Eye Opener

Ben and I were talking about Robert's trip to the Rutland Fair. I suggested that this must have been quite an eye opening experience for him. It gave him access to a whole new world of possibilities.

Ben, can you write a couple of paragraphs about an eye opening experience that you have had? (I asked Ben to make some modifications to his initial post. They appear in order as comments.)

While there have been many events in my life that really made me happy, the one that truly opened me up to the world is a mix of two events. They are my attempts at making new characters, resulting in Hardhat Runner and Zorax. When I drew Hardhat for the first time, my mind just opened another section, and I saw a whole vision of characters that changed my life. When I saw Zorax in that image, all of those characters feelings, names and other info shot into my head like an ocean liner plummeting into the sea. These characters would forever be in my mind, as I noticed new characters in that ever reoccurring image, along with character redesigns. These characters are now a part of my world so big, it’s almost unimaginable. I just wonder when the next time a new character will pop out of that image. Also, I know this isn't a couple of paragraphs. Think of it as a bunch of paragraphs smushed together like energy bars.

(P.S. this just has some modifications to it.)

Like how Robert felt at the Rutland fair, I was just proud to show what I had to the world. He showed his now first prize winning pig, I showed my characters. Also, my characters are as important to me as pinky is to Robert. However, my characters aren’t pigs. The case wouldn’t be the same if they were that unimaginative. The amount of work my imagination puts in on those characters is tremendous.

I'm wondering how you felt about Robert's trip to the fair: Was it a success or failure? I see evidence on both sides. for example, when he was going with Mrs. Tanner to the "Rest Room" he was expecting to see couches and people in repose. finding it was just a bathroom must have been disappointing but also, this kid has never seen seen much in the way of plumbing so there should be an entertainment factor there as well. What about looking for perverts, showing the bull calves in the ring and throwing up all over the judge's feet? Success or failure?
